Silas RICE [QQ1668, w309] (Edmund3, Samuel2, Edmund1) , born 10 Apr 1695 at Marlborough, MA3 {p161},1 {p35}, son of Edmund RICE and Ruth PARKER. He died May 1779 at Kahnawake, QC156. He was buried 16 May 1779 at Saint Francois Xavier de Caughnawaga Sault Saint Louis, Caughnawaga, Laprairie Co, QC156. He was also known as Jacques THANHOHORENS. He was also known as Tookanowras. On 8 August 1704, while the Rices were spreading flax to dry near the house of Silas's uncle Thomas Rice, a small party of Caughnawaga Mohawks attacked the group, killing Silas's brother Nahor and capturing Silas and three other boys. The four captives were carried off to Canada, where Silas was adopted into the tribe and was given the name Tookanowras. He had a wife and children there.1 {35-37}

He married Marie TSIAKOHAWI, (marriage record not found)156. She died May 1779 at Kahnawake, QC156, was buried 14 May 1779 at Kahnawake156. She was also known as Tsionnakwannen156.

Timothy RICE [QQ1669, w310] (Edmund3, Samuel2, Edmund1) , born 15 Sep 1697 at Marlborough, MA3 {p161},1 {p35}, son of Edmund RICE and Ruth PARKER. He died Sep 1777, aged about 86 at Kahnawake, QC156. He was buried 25 Sep 1777 at Saint Francois Xavier de Caughnawaga Sault Saint Louis, Caughnawaga, Laprairie Co, QC156. He was also known as Jacques Oserogoton156. Occupation: an Indian Chief156. On 8 August 1704, while the Rices were spreading flax to dry near the house of Timothy's uncle Thomas Rice, a small party of Caughnawaga Mohawks attacked the group, killing Timothy's brother Nahor and capturing Timothy and three other boys. The four captives were carried off to Canada, where Timothy was adopted into the tribe and was given the name Oughtsorangoughton. He had a wife and children there and became the third of six chiefs of the tribe. Timothy visited Westboro in September 1740, using an interpreter as he had lost his mother tongue. He viewed his home and where he was captured, having a clear remembrance. He could not be convinced to remain, and hence returned to Canada.1 {35-37}

He married Catherine Ossenenhawe in 1716 at Kahnawake, QC156. She was born about 1697156. She was also known as Oughtzorongughton156. She was also known as Ossenenhawe, "She Bears A Name"156.
