Silence RICE
[QQ1589, w261] (Jonas3, Thomas2, Edmund1)
,
born 30 Apr 1703 at Sudbury, MA11,1 {p30},2 {p35},14 {p7},
daughter of Jonas RICE
and Mary STONE.
She died 8 Dec 1763,
aged 60y at Templeton, MA
(under the name Bond)134,14 {p7}.
She was buried at Templeton,
in Center Cemetery134.
Her gravestone in Templeton states that she married first Ezra King
and second John Bond, and many have claimed that her second marriage
was in 1751. There was indeed a Silence King who married a John Bond
at Worcester in 1751, but that was a much younger Silence who
continued bearing children for many years afterward and eventually
died at Conway in 1812 aged 83.134,135,1 {p30},14 {p7}
She married first,
Ezra Rice KING.
He was born 22 May 1697 at Sudbury, MA1 {p38},2 {8, 35},45 {p5},14 {4, 7},11 {p82},
died 14 Jan 1746,
(July per Supplement p. 4) at Cape Breton, Canada104,2 {p35},14 {4, 7},
son of Lt Samuel Rice KING
and Abigail CLAPP.
Supplement 1 and the Rice Gen'l Register mistakenly assert that Ezra King
married Silence Bond. The error is corrected in Supplement 2, Part 1.
See also the NEHGR vol. 130 pp. 302-42 {p35},45 {p5},14 {4, 7},22 {130:302}
Neither the marriage of Ezra nor the births of any of his children
are entered in the Sudbury vital records. Several of the births
are found in the Worcester vital records, however.
She married second,
John BOND, but the time and place of this marriage are unknown. The only evidence
for it is Silence's gravestone in Templeton. The Worcester vital
records show a marriage between a John Bond Jr and a Silence King in
1751, but that was a young couple who proceded to raise a family in
Worcester and later Conway134,70,64 {p72},1 {p30},14 {p7}.
He was baptized 23 Nov 1690 at 1st Church, Watertown, MA34 {4:129},
died after 1763,
as his wife Silence's gravestone makes clear he survived her134.
He was dismissed to the Worcester church in 1752 at Watertown, MA64 {p51}.

[QQ1593, w265] (Jonas3, Thomas2, Edmund1)
,
born 7 Nov 1714 at Worcester70,1 {p30},
son of Jonas RICE
and Mary STONE.
He died 20 Jan 1802 at Bridport, VT1 {p73}.
He was in the military about 1755,
serving in the French and Indian War, member of Capt. Andrew
Dalrymple's company for five months, ending 12 Dec. 1755. In
1756 he was a sergeant in the company, "age 43, cooper, born and
resident of Worcester"1 {p72},138.
He resided before 1802 at Bridport,
with his son, Abel, whom he survived1 {p73}.
At one point, a contributor claimed that Adonijah's daughter Abigail
was really a son Nathaniel, but without offering any evidence in
support. Now that the vital records have been examined, it is clear
that Abigail was indeed Abigail, as stated in Ward and two of the
Supplements. The remnant of the original Abigail-renamed-Nathaniel
is still maintained in the ERA database for future reference as #3163,
but not linked to any family.

,
born 3 Nov 1713 at Sudbury, MA11,1 {p32},2 {p30},45 {p4},
daughter of Elisha RICE
and Elizabeth WHEELER.
She died 29 Mar 1799 at Leicester, MA,
as widow Elizabeth Livermore. The Supplement and Rice Gen'l Register
both mistakenly attribute this death to her husband Jonas114 {p265},2 {p30},45 {p13}.
She was also known as Elisha, according to Ward, who has no corroborating evidence, but supposes
that "Elisha" took care of "his" insane sister Julia. Supplement 1
corrects the mistaken name1 {p32},45 {p4}.
She married
Jonas LIVERMORE 28 Nov 1735,
(12 July 1736 per Weston records) at Sudbury, MA,
listed as Jonas of Weston and Elizabeth of Sudbury2 {p30},45 {4, 13},11 {230, 258},65 {p264}.
He was born 13 May 1710 at Weston, MA65 {p5},2 {p30},45 {p13},
died before 1799,
as his wife was listed as a widow at her death that year. However,
Jonas's death is not entered in the Leicester vital records,
son of Daniel LIVERMORE
and Mehitable NORCROSS.
He made a will 2 Apr 1773,
mentioning wife Elizabeth and children David, Jonas, Elisha,
Micah of Oxford, Mary Scott, Elizabeth Tucke, Beulah, and Sybil
