vi
Reuben RICE [QQ119885], born 3 Sep 1776 at Dummerston2 {p120}. Your authors at the Edmund Rice (1638) Association have been unable to establish from primary records the parents of Reuben Rice who married Polly Jones. The YDNA of a living male descendant of this Reuben Rice matches the reconstructed YDNA of Edmund Rice. Other known Reuben Rices from this time have been accounted for. Therefore, we have tentatively assigned him as the son of Barzillai Rice and Silence Gould mentioned in the vital records of Dummerston. Future research may overturn this hypothesis.

He married Polly JONES 29 Nov 1796 at Williamstown, VT442,158. She was born 7 Feb 1782 at Westminster, VT442, died 1 Nov 1868 at Northfield, VT442, daughter of Aquila JONES and Prudence WISE.

Thomas ALLEN Jr

This report includes only the first 6 generations of the Deacon Edmund RICE clan. A nine-generation version is available to members of the Edmund Rice (1638) Association. Learn more about Deacon Edmund RICE and these pages at our home page.

Thomas ALLEN Jr [QQ4312] (Thomas4, Frances3 RICE, Thomas2, Edmund1) , born 6 Sep 1713 at Sudbury, MA11,2 {29, 83}, son of Thomas ALLEN and Sarah GRANDE.

He married Beulah STONE 15 Feb 1762 at Sudbury, according to the published vital records of Sudbury. The Rice Gen'l Register asserts that this is the date of Beulah's death, but it does not say whether that assertion is based on an inspection of the original records or on pure intuition. The birth records for Thomas's children show the mother as Beulah, but there are no records of children born to Thomas in the 1760's. Either he married two different Beulahs, or the date of this marriage is incorrect in the vital records. The Simon Stone Genealogy asserts that the marriage date is wrong in only one digit and that it should be 1742, but does not comment on the published vital records2 {29, 83},11 {p163},127 {p83}. She was born 18 May 1726 at Sudbury (under the name Ston)11,127 {p83}, daughter of Joseph STONE and Mary WHEELER. Her identity may perhaps be established by examination of the deeds of Middlesex or Worcester County, since the Simon Stone Genealogy states that her father conveyed his estate to his children by deed during his lifetime.127 {p82}
