Jonathan BREWER [QQ1328, w94] (Elizabeth3 RICE, Henry2, Edmund1) , born 21 Jun 1689 at Sudbury11,2 {p17},45 {p1}, son of John BREWER and Elizabeth RICE. He died in 1752 at Framingham, MA, (not found in the published records)2 {p17}. He resided at Framingham, living on the farm known later as the Edward Goodnow place. He bought that farm of 62 acres in 1717 from his brother-in-law Caleb Bridges and Joseph Buckminster32,4. An administrator was appointed in Middlesex County to settle Jonathan Brewer's estate in 1753.20 {docket 2553} All of the Brewer births published with the Sudbury Vital Records, including Jonathan's, came from the Middlesex court records.

He married Arabella GOULDING about 1715, not recorded in Billerica, Boston, Bridgewater, Cambridge, Chelmsford, Concord, Dedham, Framingham, Groton, Lancaster, Marlborough, Natick, Newton, Sherborn, Stow, or Sudbury2 {p17},45 {p1},14 {p6}. She died after 1737 at probably Framingham, MA, (not found in the published records). An administrator was appointed in 1774 for the estate of an Arabella Brewer of Framingham. Could this be the same person?20 {docket 2544} They covenanted to the church 17 Apr 1717 at Framingham, MA32.

He sold the land to James Goddard in 1778. According to the History of Berlin, David had a son named Stephen or Samuel who had a blacksmith shop in what is now the center of Berlin. However, the timing is wrong, since the Rice blacksmith was supposedly there from about 1750.89 {p466} He died without issue. His wife Mary settled his estate in 17911 {p87}.

He married Mary SANGER 15 Oct 1759, (day of the month not entered in the vital records) at Framingham1 {46, 87},16 {p363}. She was born 19 Dec 1738 at Framingham16,1 {p87}, died 6 Aug 1817, aged 80y at Littleton, MA (under the name Rice)87 {p354},1 {p87}, daughter of David SANGER and Bathsheba PRATT. She made a will 15 Jan 1816, which was lodged for probate 26 Aug 1817. Will disapproved 21 Oct 1817. Nathan Rice received a silver watch1 {87, 155}.

The Rice Supplement mistakenly reports that Ezekiel died in 1828, having confused him with his grandson of the same name.45 {p7}

He married first, Hannah WHITNEY 23 Jan 1722/23 at Framingham, MA16,1 {12, 46},45 {p7}. She was born 27 Sep 1697 at Sherborn, MA77,45 {p7}, died before 175345 {p7}, daughter of John WHITNEY and Sarah. Ezekiel RICE and Hannah WHITNEY resided in 1722 at Sherborn1 {p46}.

He married second, Prudence PRATT 10 May 1753 at Framingham, MA1 {p46},45 {p7},16 {p363}. She was born 22 Sep 1698 at Framingham (under the name Prat)16,1 {p46}, daughter of Joseph PRATT and Hannah PROVENDER.

He married third, Margaret. She was thinly documented. They declared their intention to marry 25 Nov 1769 at Natick, MA, listed as Ezekiel of Framingham and Margaret Bond76,1 {p46},45 {p7}.

He married fourth, Ruth 8 Jan 1772 at Sherborn, MA (under the name Chapin)77,16,1 {p46},45 {p7}. She died 25 Jan 1791 at Sherborn (under the name Rice)77,45 {p7}. She was a widow (Chapin) at the time of her marriage to Ezekiel Rice.77

He bought 11 acres in Framingham in 1718 and received some land near Learned's Pond from his father sometime in the 1720's. He served as Framingham Constable in 1726.32 They were covenanted to the church 26 Jan 1724 at Framingham, MA32 {p364}.

He died in 1760 at Framingham, MA, (not found in the published records)1 {p47}. The estate of Phineas rice was appraised 17 November 1760, son Joseph, Administrator. Widow's thirds set off 8 March 1762. Estate distributed 14 March 1763 between three children, presumably Joseph, Lydia, and Zerviah.1 {p47}

He married Margaret EAMES 6 Jul 1727, (26th per Ward) at Framingham16,1 {12, 47}. She was born 13 Jan 1703/4 at Framingham16,1 {p47}, died after 17 Jun 17941 {p47}, daughter of Samuel EAMES and Patience TWITCHEL. She made a will 17 Jun 1794, mentioning daughter Lydia, wife of Caleb Gleason; daughter Zerviah, wife of Caleb Drury; and grandchildren Caleb and Anne Drury. William Boden of Natick, Executor1 {p47}. Her will was proved 8 Oct 17941 {p47}. They resided in 1727 at Framingham1 {p47}. They were covenanted to the church 7 Jul 1728 at Framingham32 {p379}.

In the settlement of the widow's administrative account, 27 March 1751 is an item "for bringing up daughter Hannah till 7 years old, for whom John Bent was appointed guardian, January 30, 1737/381 {p47}.

He married Hannah BENT in 17341 {12, 47},2 {p103},45 {p7}. She was born 10 Jul 1714 at probably Framingham, MA, (not found in the published records)1 {p47},2 {p103},45 {p7}, died 21 Sep 1774 at Framingham, MA (under the name Belknap)16,2 {p103}, daughter of John BENT and Hannah RICE.
