Also, there is reason to believe that some of the deaths recorded under the heading '1817' actually occurred in 1816.4

We have two records for two Deborah Rices both married a James Brown on 26 January 1725. Ward has one set of parents and Sup 1 has another set for Deborah. It is quite certain that the James Brown is the same person and that the ancestors of one Deborah Rice are in error. Unfortunately the Marlborough marriage record does not list Deborah's parents. And she died before either presumed father died so a will would be no help.

Jotham Rice was born on 17 February 1696 at Marlborough, MA.3,4 He was the son of James Rice and Sarah Stone. Jotham Rice married Mary Earl, daughter of Ralph Earl and Mary Carr.1,2 Jotham Rice died on 11 November 1782 at Barre, MA; (17th per Ward) aged 85y.5,6 He estate was probated on 23 December 1783 at Worcester County, MA; (this probate date is not found in Jotham's probate docket and may be merely a garbled copy of the date of the will itself).5
Jotham Rice and Mary Earl resided after 1722 at Newport, RI.5 On 23 November 1730, Jotham was granted administration of the estate of his father, as well as those of his two deceased brothers, Daniel and James. It seems clear from this that Jotham was living in the Worcester area either at that time or very soon afterwards.3 Jotham Rice and Mary Earl resided circa 1734 at Worcester, MA, but the Worcester vital records do not report the births of any of Jotham's children.5 Jotham Rice and Mary Earl immigrated before 1749 to Rutland (Barre), MA.5 Jotham Rice left a will on 23 December 1773 at Rutland District (Barre), MA,, mentioning wife Mary, daughters Mercy and Prudence, sons Ralph, Daniel, Jotham, James, and Benjamin, daughters Violate Garts, Elizabeth Wilder, Martha Walker, and Mary How, and executors John Mason and son Benjamin.5,7 The birth order of Jotham and Mary's children is uncertain.
