     Joseph Hastings was christened on 10 July 1698 at Charlestown, MA.^1,2 He married Lydia Brown on 2 October 1716 at Watertown, MA.³ Joseph Hastings died on 23 March 1783; aged 85y.^4,5 He estate was probated on 2 April 1783 at Massachusetts.⁶ He was buried at Grove Hill Cemetery, Waltham, MA.^4,5
     There is no record of his death in Cambridge. He left a will on 13 March 1781 at Waltham, MA,, mentioning sons Joseph, Jonas, and Eliphalet, all surviving daughters, namely, Elizabeth Whitney, Lydia Smith, Grace Warren, Susannah Gould, Thankful Allen, and Lois Hobbs, the heirs of deceased daughter Lucy Wheeler, and son Josiah executor.⁶

     Lydia Brown was born on 30 December 1697 at Watertown, MA.¹ She married Joseph Hastings on 2 October 1716 at Watertown, MA.² Lydia Brown died on 5 February 1768 at Waltham, MA; aged 70y, under the name Hastings.^3,4 She was buried at Grove Hill Cemetery, Waltham, MA.^3,4
